About Armstrong Relocation
Armstrong has a long history in both the local moving space as well as the corporate relocation business. We have been serving our customers for 90 years, and are planning for a future where we continue to make moves easier for our customers.
Armstrong: A Humble Beginning
- Armstrong Transfer and Storage began in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1922. In 1957, brothers-in-law Clyde Springer and James Watson acquired the two-truck, two-employee company with the help of a small loan from a friend. The company would never change ownership again. Instead, it began to grow. In 1969, Armstrong successfully completed the first of 22 subsequent agency acquisitions. In 1984, Armstrong grew to become the largest agent for United Van Lines.
Armstrong Today:
- Today, Armstrong employs over 1,225 full-time employees and owner operators, dispatches nearly 500 trucks, and operates over 1,000,000 square feet of warehouse space. Through our offices nationwide, we handle over 20,000 domestic and international relocations a year. A recognized leader in the moving and storage industry, we are continually recognized annually for our performance, and we remain a leader in the industry in terms of both volume and service quality. Having retained our status as the largest household-goods agent within the United Van Lines network for the past 25 years, Armstrong has also received the President’s Quality Award, which recognizes the highest-quality agent.
- Effective leadership, strategic planning and consistent execution of proven service processes have resulted in decades of growth. These successes provide the foundation for future expansion of the Armstrong family of companies.
Armstrong Tomorrow:
- By taking care of our customers, one move at a time, Armstrong will continue to grow. In addition, we will build upon our tradition of old-fashioned, friendly customer service and state-of-the-art innovation, satisfying the moving and storage needs of today and the ever-increasing expectations of tomorrow. Developing and delivering new, value-added service opportunities are key components of this strategy.
